OVERVIEW

Concept

On behalf of the organizing committee, we are very pleased to welcome you to Kumamoto and the International Symposium on Chronic Inflammatory Diseases, Kumamoto (ISCIDK2015). This symposium is hosted by the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kumamoto University, the Strategic Young Researcher Overseas Visits Program for Accelerating Brain Circulation, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), and the International Research Center for Medical Sciences (IRCMS) in Kumamoto University.
Chronic inflammation is considered as a trigger and/or an exacerbating factor in several diseases, including cystic fibrosis (CF), chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD), diabetes, chronic kidney diseases (CKD), cancer and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Despite the extensive studies by many researchers, causal therapeutic approaches have yet to be fully defined. In the present symposium, we will focus on how chronic inflammatory diseases are therapeutically targeted based on the lines of evidence shown by international outstanding researchers. Moreover, we will also welcome a number of young scientists who work on chronic inflammation and inflammatory diseases. This symposium will hopefully further enhance our understanding on the mechanistic and therapeutic aspects of chronic inflammatory diseases, and promote better collaboration among our scientific colleagues.
